Northwoods Guest Cabin
Welcome to this beautifully crafted post & beam guest house in East Craftsbury. Lovely forest views, a running stream out back. Although 1 small dog is generally fine, please read further about the pet policy. Check in 3pm. Check out 11am and please park in designated spot. Experience all that Craftsbury and the Northeast Kingdom has to offer: Museum of Everyday Life, Bread & Puppet Museam, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Highland Center of the Arts, hikes, cross-country skiing! The space This is a compact post and beam, open-spaced cabin with sleeping loft. It is perfect for a couple though can accommodate 3. 1st level is 14x18 and open loft is 14x9. The sleeping loft has a vaulted ceiling atop a steep stair case. In an abundance of caution, we request that kids sleep on the main floor and people with mobility issues make the safest choice given the steepness of the stairs and the requirement of stooping at the top of the stairs as to not bump your noggin. The kitchen area has a small gas stove, sink, fridge, toaster, and microwave though no dishwasher or w/d. There are coffee/tea set ups and a stocked kitchen (pots/pans, serving dishes, basic spices etc). Bring your own food/beverages. There is bathroom, small, but with a spacious shower. Toiletries, towels and hair dryer are stocked as are cleaning supplies. The pullout love seat in front of the gas fireplace. The deck out back over looks the woods and stream below. There is designated parking in front of the guest house. We welcome parties of up to 3 (or 4 if 2 of them are smaller kids and if your ok with small spaces). Reminder, it's a tiny, open space cabin so you'll all be sharing the same room. 😉 We also welcome one well-behaved and small dog; we ask that the pup be 35 pounds or below due to size of dwelling. We also ask that you keep your pup off the furniture and bed as other guests may be sensitive. Even with deep cleaning, residual smells in the fabric that can not be vacuumed out may be problematic for some. Thank you for your understanding. We also ask that the pup be kept on lead while outdoors and with you when your away. We have cats who live on and near the property and chickens who live and cluck nearby. Our neighbors may get their noses out of joint at dogs off lead and who wants that! You'll share the footprint of this property with your lovely hosts, 😉, who live across the driveway as well as their forementioned furries! To those who are tethered to their devices (ok, like me); be warned: Wi-fi in this house is super sketchy and not suitable for streaming most of the time. Same with cell coverage. We understand this is dreamy for some and flat out not acceptable for others! Note: there are a couple of nearby "hot spots"; the library in East Craftsbury one mile away or at the Public Library in Craftbury Common another 4 miles. We do provide an HD radio in the dwelling and for those in dire need, you can jump onto our internet at our house and use our landline w/ enough warning; just reach out and let us know. This house is located in East Craftbury and about 5 miles from Craftsbury Common where Sterling College is located and about 6 miles from The Craftsbury Outdoor Center, where there is cross-country skiing and sculling. The town of Greensboro is 10 minute drive and features the breathtaking Caspian Lake that has a beautiful and public beach as well as the famous Willey Store, The Highland Lodge, Hill Farmstead Brewery, The Highland Center of the Arts and Barr Hill Nature Reserve. Over the mountain is the town of Glover, the one-of-a-kind lefty Bread and Puppet Theater/Museam and the quirky and wonder-filled Museam of Everyday Things. The Genny (our General Store), The Blackbird Bistro and the C-Village Store are just a hop skip and a jump in the "Village" of Craftsbury. Stowe's a beautiful 45 minute drive as is Jay Peak. If you're interested in more info or have any questions, shoot me an inquiry. Hope to see you soon. Guest access CAUTION: As the sleeping loft is up steep stairs and requires you to stoop to not bump your noggin this space might not be a great fit for people with balance, mobility issues or children. Also, you'll need your own vehicle to get around as there is no public transporation. The Greensboro Garage does rent ebikes and kayaks. The Craftsbury Outdoor Center rents skiis and fat tire bikes last I heard. Other things to note Though this is mentioned in the above description, I want to be clear that though we are in a starkly beautiful wooded area in a lovely part of a rural state, you will still probably cross paths with people who live on the property when you go to/from your vehicle. Though spectacular, this is not a remote cabin in the woods.
