Rivers Rock - a charming cottage in the woods
Warm, charming cottage, impeccably furnished with spacious cook's kitchen, nestled in a serene wooded hollow. Enjoy the cozy warmth of the gas fireplace in winter, the cool respite of river wading in summer, or brisk nights around the firepit after a day enjoying gorgeous fall foliage or biking on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail. While rural, you're central: Smugglers Notch Resort 18 minutes, Jay Peak 30 minutes, Stowe Mountain Resort 40 minutes, Jeffersonville's art galleries 10 minutes. The space The cottage overlooks the North Branch of the Lamoille River, through a wooded hillside, so that the sound of the river is always present. The living space has room to relax around a gas fireplace. The full kitchen is spacious and well-equipped with a five-burner gas range, all the necessary utensils, and plenty of counter space. The cottage is newly renovated, warm and comfortable in winter months, but cool and tree-shaded in summer months. Guest access The cottage shares a driveway with our residence, but is otherwise completely separate. There is plenty of parking space. The setting is rural and hilly, surrounded by the western expanse of the Green Mountains. Waterville Market, the local general store, is just minutes away for those last-minute essentials. Jeffersonville, about 10 minutes away, has all the essentials, from art galleries to gas stations, while also being a friendly, scenic, walkable village, as well as a trailhead on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, and a major stop for river paddlers. Many attractions can be found in the neighborhood, some seasonal like skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing -- and some year-round, like horseback riding and hiking. At any time of the year, the beauty of the mountains and rivers will take your breath away. Other things to note WINTER TRAVEL -- PLEASE READ! Our corner of Vermont has serious winters, often with lots of snow. For travel during winter stays, we strongly recommend 4WD or AWD vehicles, equipped with snow tires. Our driveway is unpaved, and has steep sections. We do our best to keep it cleared and passable, but you may need to travel before the snow plow arrives. Seriously, folks -- you need snow tires, even on a rental. I won't be able to pull you out of a ditch, or up the driveway. WI-FI -- WiFi is available in the cottage, provided by satellite internet. TV -- The cottage is equipped with a smart TV. We do not have cable service. Guests can stream entertainment via any media applications they already subscribe to, like Netflix, Prime or Hulu. BLUETOOTH MUSIC -- For music lovers, there is a Marshall Kilburn bluetooth speaker, located under the TV. You can link to it from any device via bluetooth. CELL SERVICE -- Cell service in northern Vermont can be unreliable. In our experience, Verizon is the most reliable carrier. As you drive around Vermont, you will often find yourself in a No Service area. Plan ahead in case you lose access to your GPS -- usually you can download maps of particular areas in advance. FOOD DELIVERY -- NOT !-- Regarding culinary adventures, plan on eating out, or cooking in. Our neighborhood is quiet, serene and remote, but it is not served by GrubHub, DoorDash, or any other food delivery service.
