Vintage Mod Cottage with fireplace & soaking tub!
Grandview Farm Cottage is a circa 1920s newly renovated, 420 sq. ft. private guesthouse on the grounds of a 2.5 acre Door County property built in the late 1800s. Modern, industrial and repurposed style meets vintage farmhouse charm. Central location allows for quick drive or even a bike ride to either coast of the peninsula. Enjoy nature, wildlife, your own organically grown gardens, and dark starry night skies, while being only 3 miles to nightlife and shopping and beaches and parks. The space The cottage was the original laundry facility and woodshed on our property from the 1920s/30s. We added on 200 square feet of space, plumbing, electrical, insulation, HVAC and modern updates in 2020-2021. We have used a mix of recycled materials, modern furniture, and some quirky industrial elements to make the space fun, and comfortable. We believe in supporting local, and sustainable practices. We were excited to find both in the "Wink" brand queen size eco friendly mattress made in Wisconsin! We supply eco- friendly soap, shampoo, conditioner, cleaning products and paper products as well! And use compostable trash bags! The cozy cottage is perfect for solo travel, couples, small families or friends who don't mind sharing space and 1 bathroom. It's wonderful all seasons, a quiet winter retreat for watching the snow fall, soaking in the tub, planning your year or creating art or journaling, and close to everything for the busier seasons of activities and nightlife! Here are some other very special details we want to share! The Vintage kitchenette unit is originally from my mom's Red Barn Cottages in Ephraim, Door County, which she sold quite a few years back. I begged her to save that unit for me and now it has its new home:) Jerry made the coffee table from decorative steel panels from the exterior of the Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay which he purchased from Habitat For Humanity when the playhouse was renovated in 2020. The bathroom sink was found by the previous home owners and is thought to be the original sink when it was used for laundry in the 1920s. The pocket door to the bathroom was found in my parents basement and still has my mom's name "Jackie" penciled in the bottom left corner of the bathroom side. The sliding barn door between the bedroom and living room was from the original horse barn that was at one time part of our property from the 1890s. A few other amenities include...local art on the walls available for purchase, fresh organically grown vegetables and herbs in your own private garden, an heirloom apple tree outside your back door and your own gas grill with private dining area. My business, Galecktables, offers vegetarian soups, galettes, desserts and seasonal offerings made using organic, local and seasonal produce that are available with advance notice. I can leave them in your frig or freezer so you can arrive with delicious food, especially in the winter when you might just want to stay in and enjoy a quiet evening! Enjoy the peace of being out in the country while hearing the sounds of the birds and at night occasionally the coyotes! We have wide open skies where you can view stars, the moon and the sunrise and sunset. If you are lucky you can view wildlife including deer, hummingbirds and wild turkeys. And then just a few miles away are the bars, shops , restaurants, hiking and biking trails, and all of the amazing things Door County has to offer! Guest access Guests have their own parking spot behind the cottage. Getting around the neighborhood is easy by car, bike or walking. Other things to note I have a business, Galecktables, selling vegetarian soups, savory galettes and desserts! I am happy to leave you items in your freezer on order, please send me a message for weekly availability. I am also a photographer and happy to book a photo session on our historic property or on the water! Feel free to search my name online to find my website!
