Mountainside Cedar Platform at Steady Soils
Bring your tent or favorite camping setup to our secluded eco-campsite. A 16'x20' locally harvested cedar deck, firepit and outhouse situated on 110 acres of farm and forest. Bask in the miles of rugged trail and views of the Ossippie and White mountains. Solar lights in the trees create a wonderful night ambiance. Outhouse is less than 1 min walk from camp. You may hike in or use our gear transport on the begining and end of your stay. Seasonal farm kitchen on site. The space Welcome to Steady Soils Farm x Forest! You will arrive to fruit orchards and a 19th century New England barn. Follow the "Parking for Steady Soils" signage. We have a John Deere Gator to haul your gear in on arrival and out on departure for no extra charge or you may choose to hike/snowshoe. It is up to you to hike after that! There are groomed but rugged trails to views of Mt.Washington and the Ossipee Valley. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. You may use the brick patio at the house for WIFI access and to purcase from our farm kitchen. The farm kitchen is seasonal but open for coffee, tea or a breakfast sandwich, just let us know. Guest access Centrally located! You are 10 min drive to the antique town of Cornish, ME. Cornish has groceries, restaurants and 2 gear outfitters. 10 min drive from Sebago Lake and boat ramp. 30 min drive to White Mountain National Forest and North Conway, NH ski area. 40 min drive to Scarborough beaches. 50 min drive to Portland, ME which has every city amenity and wonderful seafood. Let us know how we can direct your trip! Other things to note This is CAMPING! You need to bring appropriate shelter and gear. The hike from the house to the site is 1 mile uphill. This is also a WORKING FARM. There are animals and tractors and smells and potentially dangerous situations. Use your common sense and ask before interacting. Farm kitchen requests/inquires should be made before your stay. Most importantly: "It is better to observe nature than to taste or touch, so the next being may share a similar experience"
